W
to
CJl
~

26

RECOMMENDATIONS

It is recommended that work on the detailed research plots be con-

tinued for several more years. Yield reductions seem to be consistent

enough that more field data should be collected to find the specific

cause. This will also provide data for validation of models.

It is proposed that concentrated effort be expended to modify models

and validation procedures while Dr. Haim Frenkel is working on the project.

It is also recommended that analytical procedures be standardized as

much as possible to minimize any error in year to year comparisons.

While no direct evidence was collected about any harm to crop yields

due to "acidic" materials in the irrigation water it is recommended that

a monitoring system be developed to check on this possibility because

there may have been some damage to farm crops this year.

The soil salinity analysis on both the Hunter and Huntington farms

initiated last year should be continued to evaluate any long time changes.

The monitoring of the groundwater levels should also be continued.
