San Ju~n River Unit NM (BR) The stQdy area is from the headwaters of the river in south centrar Colorado, through northwestern New Mexico, to its mouth ~t Lake Powell in southeastern Utah. Data show an , averag~ annual flow of l,6l5,000 acre-feet at Bluff, Utah, carryi~g a salt load of 961,000 tons. preliminary estimates of the :salt load in the river between Shiprock, ~ew Mexico, and Four Corners indicate a salt pickup of about l7l,000 . tons arlnually, corresponding to an increase in flow of only about ~5,000 acre-feet. Investigations are proposed to begin ~n FY 1986 and be completed in FY 1989. Deferred/Not Recommended/Deauthorized LaVerk~n Springs Unit UT (BR) - Deferred The Pr~liminary Findings Report recommending discontinuance of the;study because of poor cost effectiveness was released on August 7, 1984. This recommendation has been concurred in by ~he Salinity Control Forum and the Commissioner's Office, Crystal Geyser UT (BR) - Deauthorized crystal Geyser is an abandoned oil well just south of Green River,IUtah. It is too costly to remove the 200 acre-feet of water and 3,000 tons of salt contributed by the geyser.
