Nh.on <br />EJ PdSQ 1996-2000 <br /> <br />Board Directors for the Southeastern Colorado \Vater Conservancy District are appointed by the Court to <br />represent the interests of the county from which they are appointed, and sene the citizens oi the District. They afe <br />appointed to 4-year terms, and bv law they must be residents and proper tv owners within their respective county, and <br />be knowledgeable on water matters. <br /> <br />Representation on conservancy district boards is structured to allow all areas within a districl to be represented on <br />the board, giving some weight to the areas with the larger populations. Each COUnly in Southeastern's nine-county service <br />area in entitled to at least one director position on the Board, as long as that count~/s portion of the District equals more than <br />1% ot the total land area of the District. hen'one of Southeastern's nine counties is represented on the Board by this criteria <br />e'cept Kiowa County. whose Distrid lands are less than 1 % oj the total District land mass. After the lancf..mass apportion- <br />ment counties are then granted additional director posilion<. based upon their percentage share oj the lotal populalion of <br />the District. This gives El Paso County iour more directors and Pueblo County two more directors. The Courts then allow the <br />District to have one at-large position on the Board, which is no\\ held b\' a Pueblo Count\' resident-lando\\ ner. <br /> <br />3 <br />
