<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />VII. <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />IX. <br /> <br />Three species of endangered fish were held at Horsethief ponds during FY98. <br /> <br />1. 83 1991 year class Colorado pikeminnow (formerly, Colorado squawfish) representing <br />17 family lots. <br /> <br />2,8 old razorback suckers that were captured in the Grand Valley, the Colorado and San <br />Juan anns of Lake Powell, and Etter's pond. <br /> <br />3.6 wild razorback suckers from the Green river. <br /> <br />4. 122 1993 year class razorback suckers, FI 's from old broodstock. <br /> <br />5. 50 1994 year class razorback suckers, F I 's from old broodstock. <br /> <br />6. 30 1991 year class razorback suckers from the Green river broodstock for future <br />broodstock. <br /> <br />7.8 FI humpback chubs held in refugia. <br /> <br />Certain older fish from both the Colorado river and the Green river were spawned and <br />produced 14 family lots being reared in the 24 Road Hatchery. After broodstock <br />requirements are met, fish will be stocked into either the Gwmison or San Juan rivers in <br />1999. <br /> <br />An experiment using LHRH as a spawning hormone was conducted on a limited number of <br />brood fish. LHRH proved to be less effective than HCG for inducing spawning in <br />razorbacks. <br /> <br />Recommendations: Continue management and operation of facilities to serve as a primary <br />refuge for endangered fishes of the Upper Colorado River. <br /> <br />Project Status: Project is ongoing and on track <br /> <br />FY Budget: <br />A.
