~ .... ~ ~,
I ~"\J' -
.1. .J ,.>

.

published by the Department or Agriculture l!in connection with the
rormulation and evaluation of water resource projects have been
used as basic data and adjusted as necessary. Average Colorado
prices in recent years have been adjusted to the most applicable
commodity index projections ~here specific USDA price projections
were not available.

Farm Prices Received

Projected long-term prices received used in this analysis are
presented in table 23. Prices of field crops are Colorado seasonal
average prices. Because of the predominance of alfalra hay entering
the Colorado markets, the price of alralfa hay and all hay is
nearly identical. Therefore, the projected long-term price of all
hay baled was used as the price for alfalfa hay baled. Prices or
livestock and livestock products are calendar year averages. Prices
of livestock were computed on the basis or the mean daily range or
quotations on the Denver market before deduction of terminal market
costs.

Farm Prices Paid

.

Projected long-term prices paid ror commodities and services used
in farm production are presented in table 24.

Interest at the rate of 4 percent per annum on the total farm
investment is allowed as a cost or production. An additional 1 per-
cent is allowed ror accumulation or equity. The rarm investment
consists or the value or land, the cost or land development, the
rirst or new cost or farm buildings and equipment, and the values
of the average livestock inventory.

Depreciation is based on a 5 percent Sinking fund factor as
determined ror the useful lire or the item. The useful life or
farm buildings is estimated to be 50 years for which the sinking
fund factor at 5 percent interest is .0047767. The useful lire of
farm equipment will vary with the type or machine as shown in taole 25.

Historically, the North Sterling Irrigation District has collected
water charges by means or an annual assessment levied against the
presently irrigated acres within the irrigation district. During the
period 1960-1964 the annual assessment was $1.50 per acre levied
against 40,545 acres to produce an annual revenue or $60,818.

.

'd:./ U. S.
