DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY ANALYSES The analyses made for this study consisted of (1) moving averages, (2) double-mass curves, and (3) correlation techniques performed on a digital computer. The printout of computer results is included as an appendix to this report. Only a 1 imited number of the appendix was printed. A copy is available for Inspection at, the office of the State Engineer. SUMMARY OF RESULTS Characteristics of Flow at Julesburq A tabulation of the flow at the Julesburg gage on the South Platte River Is given in the data appendix in acre-feet per month for the 65-year period of October 1903 through September 1967. Moving average analyses of the Julesburg flow are also Included in the data appendix. The following paragraphs summarize the pertinent findings. Averaqes and Extremes 1. The average annual discharge at Julesburg over the 65-year period was 331,400 acre-feet per year. 2. The minimum annual flow during the,65-year period occurred in water year 1946 in which the discharge passing the Julesburg gage was 55,396 acre-feet, about lrlo of the long-term average. 3. The maximum annual discharge at the Julesbutg station during the 65-year period occurred In water year 1924 In which 1,128,410 acre-feet flowed out of the state. This amounted to about 3.4 times the long-term average annual flow. 4. The lowest consecutive 20 years of flow occurred during the period 1927 through 1946, inclusive, with an average annual discharge of 257,800 acre-feet. ,Ii: 5. The maximum consecutive 20-year period occurred during the water years 1905 through 1924 with an average annual discharge of 453,700 acre- feet.
