<br />~ssessm8nt for Glen Canyon Powerplant
<br />}pratlng was circulated for public comment.

<br />ponsored a river trip In the GrB:nd Canyon
<br />urlng the period of May 24-27, 1982, to aI/ow

<br />ould be affected by, an upratlng decision to
<br />bssrve firsthand some of the potential
<br />roblems which were Identified by those
<br />ommentlng on the Draft Environmental
<br />.ssessment. It was concluded that
<br />;eclamatlon should InitIate a cooperative
<br />ludy with the NPS to determine the Impact ot
<br />1e present operation of Glen Canyon
<br />owerplant on the Grand Canyon and to
<br />Jrther assess various alternatives to the
<br />resent operation. The results of this study
<br />

<br />will ailow Reclamation to determine how best
<br />to u5e the additional capacity.
<br />
<br />The final Environmental Assessment on the
<br />Glen Canyon Powerplant upratlng Is
<br />scheduled \0 be's.ued by December 1982; a
<br />decision as to whether to proceed with the
<br />upratlng Is expected to follow shortly
<br />thereafter.
<br />
