<br />001)936 <br /> <br />__________ APPENDIX C: FY-2002 - 2003 PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS <br /> <br />12J Interactive Basinwide Map (CRWCD, $20,000) <br /> <br />The Recovery Program needs an interpretive map of the Colorado River Basin to provide <br />target audiences with a broader context of the program and show the various audiences <br />specificaJly how they interface with recovery efforts. An interactive, computerized map <br />of the Colorado River Basin will enable the Recovery Program to provide customized <br />information appropriate to specific audience needs. The map will be available in both <br />electronic and print formats and wiJl be used at public meetings, on the Recovery <br />Program web site, in Recovery Program publications, and to provide to print and <br />broadcast news media. The Recovery Program is partnering with the Colorado River <br />Water Users Association to develop this a web-based map. Total out year cost: $5,000. <br /> <br />12K I&E/97-- Tributary Management Plans/PBO's (FWS, $2,200) <br /> <br />The Recovery Program is developing and implementing management plans for <br />significant tributaries of the Upper Colorado River Basin to provide and/or protect <br />instream flows and other habi tat needed to maintain and recover the endangered fishes <br />while aJlowing for water to be depleted for existing and future human needs. Each plan <br />serves as the basis for development of a Programmatic Biological Opinion (PBO) for <br />each of the tributary basins. Public involvement is intended to engage stakeholders in the <br />planning process for the purpose of identifying and focusing significant issues for <br />consideration in formulating and evaluating alternative actions. Objectives are to: <br />I) engage the public in the planning and provid an avenue for local involvement in <br />developing each management plan and PBO; 2) enhance public and key stakeholders <br />appreciation for the uniqueness of their basin and its value to the endangered fish and <br />other native species; 3) enhance the image of the Fish and Wildlife Service and the <br />Recovery Program as credible entities in the eyes of the public and key stakeholders; and <br />4) increase support within water-user, scientific and environmental communities to <br />effectively implement the management plans. Total out year cost: $2,000. <br /> <br />VII. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />Program management supports the vital day-to-day participation in the Program by the Service, <br />Reclamation, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. Each has one or more fuJI-time staff members <br />coordinating Recovery Program activities within their agency (or agencies) and with other <br />Program participants. <br /> <br />1. PMG/88-: Utah Program Management (VT, $85,000) <br /> <br />Costs associated with Utah's participation in technical committees and administration and <br />oversight of studies sponsored/conducted by the State of Utah.
