The suitability of the water

also was verified by chemical analysis of approximately 180 water

salllples.

The project municipal and industrial supply would meet standards,
of the Public Health Service for drinking water. Some undersirable

quantities of iron are contributed to the Uncolllpahgre River by Red

Mountain Creek above the reservoir but it is anticipated that these

~uld precipitate out in Ridgway Reservoir before the water was delivered

to the Tri-County Water Conservancy District.

,
I

Project water rights

Conditional water rights have been granted by the State of Colorado

to the Tri-County Water Conservancy District for 223,046 acre-feet of

storage in Ridgway Reservoir on Uncompahgre River and 14,089 acre-feet

of storage in Dallas Divide Reservoir on Pleasant Valley Creek. An

additional right would need to be obtained for Dallas Divide Reservoir

since the reservoir capacity (17,600 acre-feet) would be greater than

the storage right. A storage right also would be required for the small

825 acre-foot Sneva Reservoir. Direct flow rights would be required

on a number of streams where watel: would be usable for project purposes

without storage,. No difficulty in, obtaining the necessary rights 1&

anticipated.
