<br />o <br />I r' <br />- . <br />c: <br />e.J <br />c <br />C. <br /> <br />3 , <br /> <br />.~ * c:{f=J c:{f=J <br /> <br />A IS-member board of directors governs the Central Arizona Water Conservation District <br />(CAWCD), which was created in 1971 to contract with the federal government for construction <br />repayment of the Central Arizona Project (CAP). <br /> <br />Board members are elected for six-year terms from Maricopa, Pinal and Pima counties, <br />which make up the district's service area. <br /> <br />Four members were elected from Pima County and one from Pinal County in November <br />1990. Elected from Pima County were George W. Barr (reelected), Marilyn Ronstadt (re- <br />elected), Frank Brooks and Marybeth Carlile. Pinal County elected Robert A. Nelson. They <br />took office January 3, 1991. <br /> <br />On that same date, John R. "Jack" Williams of Maricopa County was elected to a two-year <br />term as president of the board. Williams succeeded Barr, who was elected vice president. <br />Rebecca J. Buehl of Maricopa County was reelected secretary of the board. <br /> <br />Elected to serve on the board's executive committee with Williams, Barr, and Buehl were <br />Samuel P. Goddard Jr. and Mary Ann Niccoli of Maricopa County, and Marilyn Ronstadt of <br />Pima County. <br /> <br />Reba E. Darter of Maricopa County was appointed to the board by Governor Rose Mofford <br />to complete the term of the late Russell Williams. Darter was seated February 7, 1991. <br /> <br />Webb Todd of Maricopa County was appointed to the board to complete the term of H. S. <br />Raymond, who resigned. Todd was seated March 7,1991. <br /> <br />The terms of Hanna J. Cortner and Dee T. O'Neill of Pima County, and Howard Wuertz of <br />Pinal County, expired in 1990. <br />
