The water supply available to the basin did not appear
to be adequate for developing hydroelectric power.

Because of limited water supplies for new lands, minimum
supplemental water requirements for existing irrigated lands, the
lack of substantial coterminou. land areas for new project irrigation,
and development costs that are high relative to irrigation, agri-
cultural water davelopment from a Federal project standpoint did not
appear to warrant further investigation. Therefore, the studies of
development possibilities were directed principally toward meeting
future municipal and industrial water needs.

The earlier observations, regarding the progress being made by
the larger municipalities (Boulder and Longmont) to meet their addi-
tional near-future water requirements, were substantiated. Reflecting
those additional depletions which would occur as a result of the future
private developments, studies were made to determine if potentialities
remained for Federal development of additional water supplies at
reasonable cost to meet long range requirements of the towns.

3

.,4:,. ,O&;J".L-.'"<_<,,-

, _. ~_,_l>..__;.;;j~'>

- -..:~,,->
