However, funding for construction of three <br />of the four authorized projects has been provided by Congress. <br />All seven States have adopted the salinity standards and the <br />plan of implementation. The.permanent Work Group has initiated <br />the three-year review of the numeric criteria and plan of <br />implementation for salinity control, as required by P.L. 92-500 <br />and the Forum's implementation plan. To date, new preliminary <br />estimates have been made by the Work Group for future water use <br />through 1990 and for salt pickup rates. Development of base- <br />line values for selected stations has also been initiated. <br /> <br />On August 21, 1977 the Environmental Defense Fund filed <br />suit against the Environmental Protection Agency and others. <br />The major thrust of the suit is to set aside the water quality <br />standards for salinity.
