During 'he four survey periods between July 1990 and April 1991 the peak number of farm
workers occurred in July when there was a total of 73,000 workers on farms and ranches in the
Mountain II Region, which consists of Colorado, Nevada and Utah. The total hours worked by self-
employed work~rs was at the highest Jevel during July, but for hired workers it was during October.

Wage ra~es were generally higher during the January and April survey periods. The average
wage rate for ~II hired workers, regardless of method of payor type of workers, was highest in
January at $5.7Q per hour. Workers paid on an hourly basis earned their highest wages during April
when the averaQe rate was $5.74 per hour. Livestock workers received the highest wage rates of any
nonsupervisory ytorkers during January, but field workers received the highest nonsupervisory wage
during the April survey period.
