HIGHLIGHTS OF 1975 OPERATION

Totsl Western Division System carryover storage was above normal
at the beginnirtg of Water Year 1975.

Total system carryover storage included major reservoirs of the
North Platte River Area with 137 percent, the Colorado-Big Thompson
Project with 111 percent, and the Bighorn Area with 97 percent of
the recent ten-year average,

Winter precipitation was sbove normal for all watersheds except
Green Mountain. in Colorado and the lower North Platte River Area
of Wyoming which was below normal,

April 1 water supply forecssts were above normal for most areas,

. Very cool temperatures during April, May and June caused much de-
layed snowmelt runoff,

Rare April-July snowmelt runoff patterns were reflected by Boysen,
Buffalo Bill and Green Mountain watersheds which recorded grestest
monthly runoff volumes during July,

Total reservoir inflows during the April-July snowmelt runoff period
were above normal in most areas,

The delayed but fairly low and prolonged runoff patterns did not
cause serious flooding problems,

The cold delayed Spring was followed by a hot and dry Summer,

North Platte River gains from Alcova to Guernsey reservoirs in
Wyoming recorded a.loss during August and were below normal for
six straight months - April through September.

Glendo to Guernsey river gains during Water Year 1975 were the
lowest of record since construction of Glendo Reservoir.

Seasonal irrigation deliveries for the North Platte River Area were
14 percent above the recent seventeen-year average,

A total 'of 101,500 acre-feet of water was released through the Path-
finder Dam river outlet valves during August and September to meet
heavy irrigation demands below Guernsey Reservoir.

5
