~-'.312.
uJ.~ ...

Preface

The River Basin Maps published under the auspices of the Inter-Agency
Committee on Water Resources, Subcommittee on Hydrology, edition of April
1961, have been very useful to many users. The cutoff date for inclusion of
information for the latest series of maps was January 1, 1959. There have
been many additional stations added and changes made in the various networks
since that time.

This publication is the third of a series of reports (the second on a
calendar-year basis) which will list the changes in the station networks for
the Pacific Southwest Inter-Agency Committee area as defined below:

"The geographical area to be encompassed within the sphere of
Committee influence will include all of Arizona, California,
Utah and of Nevada except the part within the Columbia River
Basin; the parts of New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming within
the Colorado River Basin; the parts of Idaho and Wyoming within
the Great Salt Lake Basin; and, the parts of Oregon within the
Smith River, Klamath River, and Goose Lake (Pit River) Basins."

All known revisions from January 1, 1963, through Decemuer 31, 1963,
have been tabulated in this report. Annual reports for succeeding calendar
years will be issued by the Hydrology Subcommittee.

The compilation of the information has been accomplished by the entire
membership of the Hydrology Subcommittee with the agency primarily responsible
for specific types of stations preparing the sections of the reports as
indicated below:

Agency

Data Responsibility

Geological Survey

Section I -- Stream gages, lake or reservoir
gages, sedimentation and chemical quality
sta tions.

Weather Bureau

Section II -- Precipitation, temperature,
evaporation and radar stations.

Soil Conservation
Service

Section III -- Snow surveys courses, aerial
snow markers and soil moisture stations.

Public Health Service

Section IV -- Sanitary quality stations.

It is recognized that, in an undertaking of this magnitude, errors or
omissions will occur. Anyone who has knowledge of such errors or omissions
is requested to furnish the information to the agency primarily responsible
for the type of data so that corrections may be noted in the following annual
report. Any suggestions for changes in the format or material to be included
in these yearly revisions reports would also be appreciated.
