L'"
l:'-
("oj
.....,
(5
(-'
...,J

schedule at the Los Sauces gaging station at the mouth of the

Conejos.

It shows that the aVerage annual change in deliverie;.

between the Compact study period (1928 to 1937) and the period of

continuing low deliveries (1950 to 1967) is 34,400 acre-feet (from

+1600 to -32,800 acre-feet). The corresponding decrease in stream

flow in the Conej os is a.n average annual flow of. 47.5 cubic feet

per second. This d<'i)crease. in stream flow. resulted in a large reduc-

tion irt pirect-flowdeliveries on the Conejos.

See Figure "7 from

COlorado Water ResQurces Circular No. 18, 1973, by .the U. S. Geo-

logical Survey, as. added to by D. H. McFadden, in appendix. This

addition indicates an average annual decline in diversions Of 60,000

acre-feet. . For this report, the consumptive use portion of the

60,000 acre-feet is estimated at 20 percent. The average annual

depletion to the Conejos from the Compact study period (1928 to

1937) to the (1950 to 1967) period is then 34,400 plus 12;000, or

46,400 acre~feet. This compares favorably with the approximate

5.0,000 acre-feet illustrated by Figure 7 in Colorado Water Resources

Circular No. 18, 1973" by the U. S. Geological Survey. The 46,400

acre-feet per year represents an average flow of 64 cubic feet per

second (cfs).

Seepage investigations reported. in the text and Table III of

the Tipton report show a change for the Conejos River from the gaging

station at Mogote to its mouth at Los Sauces from +27.4 cfs in

-6-
