0027~S

-

OPENING REMARKS

by

.

Henry P. Caulfield, Jr.

I would like at this time to welcome you on behalf of the Water Resources
Council and the Interstate Conference on Water Problems, to this, our
third National Conference of State and Federal Water Officials.

When we started these conferences in Denver three years ago, I don't
think we had in mind that we would have such a full turnout and participa-
tion, and so much interest in these conferences.

T his morning it is entirely proper and fitting. that we should be introduced
first to the city of Salt Lake. I understand that the Mayor of Salt Lake
City could not be here today the Honorable J. Bracken Lee. I am sure
most of us have heard of J. Bracken Lee. He has been in political life
for many years; earlier, as Mayor of Price, Governor of the State of
Utah, and now the Mayor of Salt Lake City. We have here, on his behalf,
speaking as the welcoming official of the City of Salt Lake, Mr. Max Rich,
Executive Vice President, Chamber of Commerce.

"

~;ti::{ll
~~~:~i:~;~
<:i)i;"/~ii,-::';
- "-;.. .
":}i~::~--:"; .; --.-;
:\~-r~~t;-.~.
.~4I1I1Ir611.1Iltt:;illL..f~~
