".", <br />OU0S33 <br /> <br />compared to those under the Water Development Baseline, defined on Page 18 hereof, <br /> <br />as needed to determine project impacts. <br /> <br />The purpose of this report is to present information on the WIRSOS computer <br /> <br />model, the Environmental Baseline and the Water Development Baseline, project <br /> <br />configurations for the subject water rights to be modeled, modeling approach, and <br /> <br />modeling results. <br /> <br />1.3 STUDY AREA <br />The Little Snake River Basin is located in south-central Wyoming and northwest <br /> <br />Colorado. The Little Snake River flows into the Yampa River east of Dinosaur National <br /> <br />Monument where the Yampa enters the Green River, a major tributary to the Colorado <br /> <br />River. Located within the Upper Colorado River Basin, the Little Snake River falls under <br /> <br />the provisions of the Upper Colorado River Basin Compact dated October 11, 1948. <br /> <br />Figure 1 shows the general location of the study area. <br /> <br />The Little Snake River Basin encompasses an area of about 4,000 square miles, <br /> <br /> <br />slightly more than half of which is in Wyoming. Major tributaries to the Little Snake <br /> <br /> <br />include Battle, Slater, Savery, Willow and Muddy Creeks. Elevations in the basin range <br /> <br /> <br />from over 10,000 feet in the Sierra Madre mountains along the Continental Divide on the <br /> <br />eastern edge of the basin, to about 5,500 feet at the confluence with the Yampa River. <br /> <br />Precipitation in the basin ranges from 8 to 10 inches annually in the lower, more arid <br /> <br />region, to at least 35 inches atop the Continental Divide. <br /> <br />3 <br />
