Register announcing we would prepare a <br />draft EIS on the operations of the ~a\'ajo Dam <br />and Reservoir (Project) to implement Ilows <br />recommended by the San Juan River Basin <br /> <br /> <br />San Juan River Below Navajo Dam <br /> <br />Recovery Impleml.:nt3tion Program. The autho- <br />rized purposes of the Project would be main- <br />tained while accommodatin'o.! these recommended <br />tlows or a reasl.:mable alternatiye. It is e:'\~cted <br />that implementJtion of these nows in the San <br />Juan River would help conserye the: endangered <br />Colorado pikeminnow and razorback su~ker. <br /> <br />Cooperating Agency Meetings <br /> <br />Rcclamation and the coopt=rating agencies ha\e <br />met 3 times since issuance of the tirst EIS news- <br />letter in Decemocr IQQQ. The purpose of meeting <br />is to share information and coordinate EIS :lcrivi- <br />tics. Reclamation and the San JU31l <br />W::lter Commission hosted a public meeting in <br />Farmington. Xew \k...ico. 10 discuss issues <br />associated with high tlows on the San Juan River. <br />This meeting provided water users downstream of <br />the reservoir. and others. an opportunity to discuss <br />the impacts of the nows. their options. and what <br />assistance might be available to them. The wate:r <br />users Were concerned that both high and low <br />!1ows in the river limit their ability to divert <br />water. The high t10\\"s wash out their di\'ersion <br />structures and the low !1ows make it difficult to <br />diwrt water. <br /> <br />Representatiws of the Army Corps of Engineers. <br />New J\1exico Inrerstatt: Stream Commission. the <br />City of Farmington.
