INPUT DATA FILES (DATA BASE)

(1) Demand Data File

This file contains information regarding withdrawals and depletions of
water from the river. Data are entered in an ordered format which reflects
the physical location of the various water demands on the river. Actual
data elements are listed below:

(a) Withdrawals for a given user at a demand point.
(b) Depletions and return fl ows .
(c) Lag time, in months, for return flow.
. (d) Year of withdrawal and depletion.
(e) Salt pickup.
(f) Reach and sequence point for withdrawal.
(g) Reach and sequence point for return flow.

(2) Hydrology Data File

The hydrology data file contains calculated natural flow and salt
records from 1906 to 1978. The data for this file were developed from
historical stream flow records, cropped acreages, evaporation calculations
for the reservoirs and recorded diversions and return flows.

There are several assumptions that were made in developing this data
base. These assumptions are listed below:

(a) Recorded flows are accurate.
(b) Diversions and acreages are recorded or can be estimated within
reasonable limits.
(c) Consumptive use and reservoir evaporation are computable within
reasonable limits.
(d) Return flows may be lagged, routed, and attenuated.
(e) The remaining residuals can be explained by other hydrologic
parameters such as precipitation) bank storage, or ground water inflows.

(3) Control File

.

The control
operations data.
the following:

file contains reservoir operations data and powerplant
Data are entered in the form of polynomial equations for

107
