001952

- 2 -

Nothing will be Done for a While.

There is a meeting of the National Reclamation Association in Long
Beach, California, November 11 to 15. Judge stone was in charge of the
Colorado end of that program. The fact that the meeting was to be held in
California had all of the delegates from this state nervous. California
has for years been trying to get ahead of the state'so far as authrnrity
over the waters of the Colorado river are concerned. They out voted Colorado
one year ago at Amarillo, Teyas. With Stone out of the pi"ture, the work of
protecting C010rad~ will faLl on the rest of the delegates who will be headed
by Jean Breitenstein ~nd Gail Ireland. No one will be appointed in Stone's
place before that rncetil~, for the new man might not have a clear idea of
what Stone had in mind; Breitenstein and Ireland do" for they worked with
him on the program.
