Preliminary input has been <br />n>ceived from the Service. The Service has requested that Reclamation investigate enhancing <br />trout habitat within the Special Regulation Waters downstream from !\!a\"ajo Dam by <br />creating pools and/or establishing in-stream <br />structures. Other initial ideas involve monitoring <br />of riparian and fishery resources. supporting the <br />trout stocking program, and reducing impacts of <br />future wate( developments. <br /> <br /> <br />The New ~1l'l{ico IJt'partment of Game and <br />Fish (NMOCF) has prodded written (ecom- <br />mendations for fish and wildlife resources <br />mcluding funding ilnd aS5isting :\'~tDGF in <br />monitoring the trout fishery and its recrt.'ational <br />use. Monitoring of nath.e fishes downstream from <br />the Citizen5 Ditch was fl'Commcndt.'d. Also, it was <br />recommended by the !\:MOCF that Rt.'damation <br />conduct detailed geomorphic studies of the trout <br />fishery ,Hea and the n,ltive fi~h ,nea to identify <br />appropri,lte mitigation ,1(tions to reduce h.lbitat <br />losses. 0!~lOCF also recommendE'd that <br />Rt'clamation work with both tht' Hammond Projt'Ct <br />watl'r users and the Citizcns Ditch to investigate fish p.hsagc "t those di\"l:'rsions.
