Additional lands for recreation and fish and wildlife
developments at the reservoir and at existing Jackson Lake would be
acquired as specified by the National Park Service and the Bureau of
Sport Fisheries and Wildlife.

The small settlements of We1dona, Goodrich, and Orchard are
within the normal reservoir take line. These are communities with
populations of less than 100 that have shown little evidence of
development for a number of years. They are not served by community
water or sanitary sewer systems.

The Bureau of Mines studied the Narrows Dam and Reservoir sites
and reported that petroleum and natural gas are the only significant
mineral resources. The small field has shown a steady decline in
oil production since 1956. Of 108 wells that have been drilled within
the flood control pool elevation, 74 wells had been abandoned while
34 wells were still prodUCing as of October 1965. It was estimated
that about 20 of those 34 wells had significant primary and secondary
reserves of oil and gas. Rights-of-way cost estimates for the unit
include funds deemed adequate for the acquisition and capping of the
remaining 34 producing wells, to insure the proper capping of abandoned
wells, and for the acquisition and abandonment of pipelines that will
no longer be needed.

Costs for fee title Iffilds include the cost of purchasing
associated water rights. Flood easements would be obtained for lands
between the fee title take line established for all purposes and the
cOntour line at the top of the flood control pool. A summary of t,he
estimated rights-of-way requirements for all purposes and present the
land use is presented in table 5.

HOUSING AND COMMUNITY FACILITIES

The construction headquarters office probably would be located

22
