<br />If') <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />c <br /> <br />-- <br />'- <br /> <br />c <br /> <br />McDonald Creek Site--good long-term stabil ity; good geotechnical <br />characteristics, but the possibil ity of recent structural deformation <br />needs further evaluation; very remote; riprap may need to be hauled to <br />site; fairly long haul route, but roads not heavily used; slightly over <br />one mile to a perennial creek but it is in a different drainage; possible <br />conflict with Bureau of Reclamation desalinization project; moderate <br />potential for conflicts with oil and gas development. <br /> <br />6 & 50 Reservoir Site--moderate long-term stabil ity; acceptable <br />geotechnlcal characteristics; moderate gullying on site; remote; reservoir <br />with good wildlife habitat that is used for hunting is less than 1 mile <br />from site; moderate potential for conflicts with oil and gas development; <br />near small parcel of private land. <br /> <br />Camp Gulch Site--moderate long-term stability; good geotechnical <br />characteristics; geologic structures in area may increase bedrock <br />fracturing; riprap may need to be hauled to site; very remote; <br />considerable road construction needed to reach site; truck route through <br />Loma area; near gas field with moderate potential for confl icts; possible <br />conflicts with proposed power plant. <br /> <br />East Salt Creek Site--good long-term stabil ity; good geotechnical <br />characteristics; geologic structures in area may increase bedrock <br />fracturing; riprap may need to be hauled to site; remote; near gas field <br />with moderate potential for conflicts; truck route through Loma area. <br /> <br />Halls Basin Site--moderate long-term stability; acceptable geotechnical <br />characteristics; intense gullying on site, but this can be readily <br />mitigated through proper engineering and construction; good riprap sources <br />adjacent to site; irrigation ditch less than 112 mile; very remote; <br />considerable road construction required to reach site; moderate highway <br />safety hazard associated with truck haul from Grand Junction; surrounded <br />by private land that may experience future subdivision development. <br /> <br />Cheney Reservoir Site--good long-term stability; good geotechnical <br />characteristics; good riprap source on site; less than one mile to <br />reservoir and creek with excellent wildlife habitat; very remote; <br />considerable road construction required; moderate highway safety hazard <br />associated with truck haul from Grand Junction; near private land. <br /> <br />Lucas Mesa Site--good long-term stabil ity; acceptabl e geotechnical <br />characteristics, but erosion rates of mesa flank must be carefully <br />evaluated; good riprap on site; just over one mile to an irrigation ditch <br />and the Colorado River; very remote; very steep haul route; possible to <br />use a conveyor; near private lands. <br /> <br />Flatiron Mesa Site--good to excellent long-term stabil ity; good <br />geotechnical characteristics, but erosion rates of mesa flank must be <br />carefully evaluated; good riprap on site; less than one mile to a <br />perennial stream; very remote; very steep haul route; direct truck haul <br />from Rifle is feasible; possible to use a conveyor; near private lands. <br /> <br />- 3 - <br />
