The recommended plan <br />for phase I would remove about 25,500 tons per year at a cumulative <br />cost effectiveness of $8B per ton based on January 19B5 prices, and an <br />interest rate of B-5/B percent. <br /> <br />If the construction costs were indexed to January 1989 prices with an <br />interest rate of B-7/8 percent, the annual cost would be $2,419,900 <br />which would result in a cost effectiveness of $95 per ton for the <br />phase I recommended plan. Adding the lining of 3.2 miles of My ton <br />Townsite Canal to the recommended plan would result in a total annual <br />cost of $2,612,550 and a total salt reduction of 27,650 tons. The <br />cost effectiveness would then be $94 per ton. <br /> <br />As stated in the Hydrosalinity Appendix for Uinta Basin Unit, phase I, <br />the actual amount of winter use of the canals for livestock water will <br />be further quantified during preconstruction activities.
