The peak water surface elevation of
5745.51 feet was 13.49 feet below the normal maximum operating level of
5759.00 feet.

Irrigation deliveries to the St. Vrain Canal began in early May. A total
of 2,388 acre-feet was delivered in May, including metered delivery. Water
deliveries for June were below normal at 3,803 acre-feet due to the high
east slope carryover storage.

Project water del iveries were much below average in July at
9,206 acre-feet, which was 53 percent of average. Project water deliveries
continued to be below normal in August and September at 69 percent and
78 percent of average, respectively. The end of water year storage of
54,139 acre-feet was 3,139 acre-feet above normal.

Water year deliveries to the St. Vrain Canal totaled 40,700 acre-feet, much
below the 30-year average of 67,000 acre-feet.

Fl at iron Unit 3 generation was not schedul ed duri ng the water year. A
total of only 239 acre-feet was del ivered through Flatiron Unit 3 for
testing purposes and to provide water during maintenance of Pole Hill
Powerplant, and this produced 51,000 kilowatt hours of energy.

A total of 76,378 acre-feet of water was
water year whi ch was 96 percent
23,100,000 kilowatt-hours of energy.

pumped to Carter Lake during the
of average. This required

Horsetooth Reservoir

Compl eted in 1949, with four dams, Horsetooth Reservoi r has a total
constructed capacity of 156,700 acre-feet. Inflow of Project water is
from Flatiron Reservoir via the Charles Hansen Feeder Canal.

Horsetooth Reservoir storage of 63,778 acre-feet at the start of water
year 1990 was below the 30-year normal of 72,200 acre-feet.

During early October, most Project water brought over from the Colorado
River was pumped to Carter Lake due to the scheduled maintenance on the
550 ft3/S section of the Charles Hansen Feeder Canal. This prevented
transfer of water to Horsetooth during the October 1 through October 12
period.

Normal transfer of water to Horsetooth Reservoir through the foothills
system of the Project began on October 13 when the 550 ft3/s section of
the Charles Hansen Feeder Canal became available. This operation
continued through September 21 when the 550 ft3/s section of the Charles
Hansen Feeder Canal was again shut down for the annual canal 1 ining
repl acement. For water year 1990, the maximum Horsetooth Reservoir
storage of 118,158 acre-feet (water surface elevation 5409.62 feet) was
reached on May 8. This was 20.38 feet below the maximum water surface
elevation of 5430.00 feet (156,700 acre-feet).

16
