"Annual assessment of Colorado squawfish <br />reproduction and larval abundance in the lower Yampa River, <br />Colorado, and the lower Green River, utah". <br />Hypotheses to be tested: 2,3,9,10,12 <br />Research Lead: Larval Fish Laboratory, Utah Division of <br />wildlife Resources <br />1991 Cost: $32,400 (For LFL only; UDWR funds from section 6) <br />Summary of study: Objectives include documenting timing of <br />Colorado squawfish as measured by capture of drifting larvae; <br />determining peaks in abundance of drifting larvae; determining <br />relative abundance of larvae transported from two spawning <br />locations; assess annual reproduction and recruitment for <br />comparison with other flow-related studies. <br /> <br />Element 2: Aae-O survival to fall (aae-O recruitment) <br />Proposal 2. "An evaluation of Colorado squawfish recruitment" <br />Hypotheses to be tested: 6,7,8,9 <br />Research Lead: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service <br />1991 Cost: $31,500 + $5,842 O.H. = $38,900 <br />Summary of study: objectives include determining relative <br />abundance of young Colorado squawfish in relation to season and <br />river conditions; evaluating environmental factors that might <br />influence survival estimates; determining behavioral patterns that <br />influence sampling bias; determining data gaps and future research <br />needs. <br /> <br />Proposal 3. "Availability and quality of nursery habitat for <br />Colorado squawfish in the Green River" <br />Hypotheses to be tested: 3,6,7,8,9 <br />Research Lead: Utah Division of Wildlife Resources <br />1991 Cost: Section 6 funds <br />Summary of study: Objectives include determining relationship <br />between habitat availability at specific flow releases from Flaming <br />Gorge dam to utilized habitat and Colorado squawfish abundance; <br />assess usefulness of videoimagery; compare with ISMP results and <br />recommend sampling alterations. <br /> <br />Element 3: Overwinter survival of vouna fish <br />Proposal 2.
