ments with various Federal and Slate Agencies to de.
velop sucb data.

A Cooperative Study with tbe U.S. Geological
Survey was continued in 1977, which ,developed infor-
mation on the ground ~ water' ch!lracteristics' in the
Salida-Buena Vista.Poncho Springs triangle, the Wet
Mountain 'Valley, and the Lower Arkans~s region..The
results of these studies will be carefully measured by
the District, U.S.G.S. and atate offici, als, in an attempt
to develop a long.range Water_management P,rogram
utilizing the facilities' of the Fryingp8n-Arka:nsas,Proj~
eel and such other Projeds as may be developed from
Unfortunately, the .River conditions w~re at' an, all
tiine Jow, and it was 'impossible for the. Irrigation
. Con,lpanies to' coordin8;te :-their runs, due to the urgent,
dema~& for .their. ~rrjgation ~ater,. CO~5equently, the
Study was not as productive as everyone ,~ad hoped
for.. However, additional cdtical data were obtatJted
:which will'he ,used in subsequent Studies. The Board
also. approved theinstallaiion. of a Satellite Gaging
Station to provide more immediate and more .detailed
information on river conditions, and a.)5.0 agreed on a
Program to study return flow. Copies. oi aU Studies
