<br />I" <br /> <br />, Ii, I i.. _'\" __ ;. <br />"~~ h;- .') <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />'M /?78 <br /> <br />NEWS RELEASE <br /> <br />ELK RIVER STUDY TO BE DISCUSSED <br /> <br />Public meetings concerning the Elk Wild and Scenic River Study will <br />be held in Denver and Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The meeting in <br />Denver will start at 7:30 P.M. in Room 110 of the State Centennial <br />Building, 1313 Sherman Street, and will be held on Monday, April 3. <br />The second meeting will be held Thursday, April 6. at the Yampa Valley <br />Electric Association Building in Steamboat Springs. It also begins <br />at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />The study team has found the river is eligible for inclusion in the <br />National Wild and Scenic River System. The team and public will dis- <br />cuss the criteria by which the river was found eligible, the preliminary <br />alternatives to be considered in recommending to Congress whether the <br />river should be put in the system. and preliminary criteria to be used <br />in choosing a recommendation. A public information packet is being <br />mailed to those on the mailing list for the study, so that they can be <br />prepared for the meeting or can mail comments on the study to the Colo- <br />rado Water Conservation Board.
