'M /?78 NEWS RELEASE ELK RIVER STUDY TO BE DISCUSSED Public meetings concerning the Elk Wild and Scenic River Study will be held in Denver and Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The meeting in Denver will start at 7:30 P.M. in Room 110 of the State Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, and will be held on Monday, April 3. The second meeting will be held Thursday, April 6. at the Yampa Valley Electric Association Building in Steamboat Springs. It also begins at 7:30 P.M. The study team has found the river is eligible for inclusion in the National Wild and Scenic River System. The team and public will dis- cuss the criteria by which the river was found eligible, the preliminary alternatives to be considered in recommending to Congress whether the river should be put in the system. and preliminary criteria to be used in choosing a recommendation. A public information packet is being mailed to those on the mailing list for the study, so that they can be prepared for the meeting or can mail comments on the study to the Colo- rado Water Conservation Board.
