<br />00'2S39 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />, . <br /> <br />REPORT OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />FOR THE 60-1 MEETING OF PSIAC <br />MARCH 16 AND 17, 1960 <br /> <br />March 1, 1960 <br /> <br />The President's budget for 1960-61 calls for the appro- <br />priation of about $80,000,000 for expenditure in California by <br />the Bureau of Reclamation, and about $46,000,000 for expenditure <br />by the Corps of Engineers. <br />Of the Bureau of Reclamation appropriation, $61,306,000 <br />would be for continued construction on the Central Valley Project, <br />$868,000 for the Tule Lake Division of the Klamath Project, and <br />$3,137,000 for the Prosser Creek Unit of the Washoe Project. <br />$1,000,000 would be for general investigations, and $12,641,000 <br />would be for loans under Public Law 984. Reports covering requests <br />for two additional loans totalling almost $10,000,000 have been <br />transmitted to Congress by the Bureau for approval following the <br />statutory 60-day waiting period. <br />Of the funds budgeted for work of the Corps of Engineers, <br />$45,014,000 is for continued construction on 20 projects in the <br />Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento Districts; $195,000 is for <br />advance engineering and design on four projects; $280,000 is for <br />general investigations; and $400,000 is for the San Francisco Bay <br />Special StUdy. <br />What additional funds California interests may request <br />at hearings on the budget by committees of Congress is not yet <br /> <br />known. <br /> <br />Flood plain zoning has been the subject of numerous <br />conferences during the past several years.
