The levels of popu1ation and households,
which were the major focus of the Regiona1 Water Supp1y Study demographic
analysis, grew substantially throughout the study area between 1980 and
1988. For the study area as a whole, population grew by about 220,000
persons, a one-fourth increase, while the number of households increased by
nearly one-third, or more than 100,000. More than half of this increase
occurred within the northern tier of the Denver Metropolitan Area (Study
Area 3).

M&I water use, as expressed in terms
has correspondingly risen sharply.
demands, M&I water demands within the

of water treatment plant production,
Even excluding the larger industrial
study area exceeded 230,000 ac-ft in

-6-

I
I
I
I

I

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
j
