Mr. Zimmerman will write a letter to Reclamation stressing better coordination. Mr, <br />Worthley is planning to attend and participate in the meetings along with other members of the LCR <br />MSCP team, <br /> <br />Also, included in the Board folder, for your information, is a copy of a letter from Mr. Hight, <br />Director of the Department ofFish and Game, The letter states that planning and implementation <br />for recovery of native species must also ensure recreational opportunities including a viable sport <br />fishery. Similar letters have been received from the fish and wildlife agencies from Arizona and <br />Nevada, <br /> <br />WESTERN WATER PLANNING <br /> <br />Glen Canvon Adaptive Manal!ement <br /> <br />Included in the Board folder for you information is a copy of a letter dated April 29,1999 <br />from the Colorado Water Conservation Board to Mr. Charles Calhoun, Regional Director, Upper <br />Colorado Region, Reclamation, regarding the proposed Glen Canyon Dam Temperature Control <br />Device, The letter recommends that the present draft Environmental Assessment be revised to <br />respond to comments from the scientific review panel, such as possible negative effects on the fish <br />community, the threat of predatory fish impacts on the humpback chub, the impacts of thermal shock <br />on eggs, larvae and young fish, and the lack of an adequate monitoring plan. <br /> <br />WATER QUALITY <br /> <br />Colorado River Basin Salinitv Control Prol!ram <br /> <br />Forum Meeting of May 26 & 27, 1999 <br /> <br />Members of the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Forum (Forum) met in Durango, <br />Colorado, on May 26-27, 1999, The first day was dedicated to touring a portion of southwestern <br />Colorado to view various salinity control projects that have been funded by the Salinity Control <br />Program. The most significant project inspected was the DoloreslMcElmo Creek Project, a <br />combined effort of the USDA and Reclamation, which will remove an estimated 119.000 tons of salt <br />load from the River. <br /> <br />The following items were discussed at the May 271h Forum meeting, <br /> <br />Mr. Zimmerman's reign as Chairman of Forum concluded after two and one half years, <br />Mr. Jeff Fassett trom Wyoming was elected Chairman, and Mr. Larry Dozier from <br />Arizona was elected Vice-Chairman, <br /> <br />5 <br />
