0005

i.. , ~

"

5. Abstract

A first round of water sales from Ruedi Reservoir was executed May 1982.
Since that time the Bureau of Reclamation has received additional request
for a second round of water sales. This supplement to the final environ-
mental statement addresses the environmental implications associated with
round 2 water sales to cities and industries along the Colorado River
from Ruedi Reservoir. The preferred alternative consists of an annual
average water sale of about 26,300 acre-feet of water from Ruedi
Reservoir. The preferred alternative would be an operational condition
where water would be released from Ruedi'Reservoir to augment junior
water rights on the Colorado River and its tributaries in times when
these rights are out of priority (periods of low flow in the river). No
additional facilities will be constructed for this alternative. Water
will be conveyed from the reservoir in the natural channels of the
Fryingpan, Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers to the point of diversion.

.

.

6. Document Purposes

This supplement meets regulations for environmental statements under CEQ
(Council for Environmental Quality) guidelines, has been planned and pre-
pared under NEPA regulations, and satisfies the following statutory and
regulatory requirements:

Federal Policies and Acts
Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act of 1958, as amended
National Environmental Policy Act of. 1969
Clean Air Act. Amendments of 1976
Endangered SpeCies Act of 1973, as amended
Clean Water Act of 1977
Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Act of 1974

7.
