Selection <br />of study periods was based on availability of raw data pertin- <br />ent to a particular site and in all cases included the most <br />recent dry year. 1977. <br /> <br />Plate I shows the location of gages and basins used in the <br />analysis. Basin parameters are summarized in Table 1. Table <br />2 is a summary of surface water runoff of the Elk River at <br />Clark for 1951-1970, while Table 3 records the same data for <br />the Yampa River at Maybell which is downstream of the Elk <br />River confluence with the Yampa. <br /> <br />Physical Supply <br /> <br />Because streamflow records are not available at the Hinman <br />Park Reservoir and the Saddle Mounta~n Pump Station sites, <br />. <br />it was necessary to derive monthly flows at each site by <br />extrapolating recorded flows from gaged stations. This re- <br />quired the identification of a number of gaged (index) bas- <br />ins hydrologically similar to the study basin.
