.

~
-.J
~
0:)

.

.

2. Gagi ng Station Data - USGS

On February 11, 1978, letters were sent to USGS District Chiefs in

the four UCRB States, requesting data specific to the gaging sta-

tions associated with the reaches selected to provide initial data

for representative reach simulation. Data requested included:

a. Cross-section showing shape of stream bed and banks at station,

b. Discharge measurment notes for the past five years,

c. Rating curve and/or table,

d. Dates when rating curve was changed over the past ten years.

e. Position (location) of gage in relation to cross-section,

f. Gage/height relationship necessary to determine actual depth of

water at the gage (area figure alone is not enough), and

g. Discharge at gage when' stream is bank full, i.e., the stage at

which water first begins to overflow either of the banks at the

station. In the absence of actual bank-full data, an estimate

was requested.

As in the case of historic flow records, additional station data

were requested when stations were added to the original list.

36
