.

8' Stream Slope (Gradient)

"'....
-.J
,.c..
o

This element of reach simulation was determined from
topographic maps (U.S.G.S. 7\ minute quadrangles pri-
marily). Selecting an upstream and a downstream contour
embracing the segment where cross-sections were taken, the
stream distance between the contours was determined with a

map measure and the slope calculated.

E. Selection of Appropriate Target Species

Selection of target species was initiated by a letter to the Study

Manager dated January 18, 1978. This letter (attachment D-l) listed the

. suggested target species for RAA's l4A and 146, which included:

1. RAA 14A: rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, brook trout, mountain
whtefish, mottled sculpin, and longnose dace.

2. RAA 146: rainbow trout, brown trout, mottled sculpin, bluehead
sucker, and Colorado squawfish.

3. Discussion and Background

.

Attachment 01, although centered around the se 1 ect i on of target

speci es, was intended to serve as a general ori entat i on to the

methodology and the status of its development insofar as the selec-

tion and use of target species were concerned. Accordingly, it

presented information as to:

28
