The
program has been advertised in the newspaper and on television and has
met with moderate success. Mesa County has been labeled as the 12th
fastest growing county in the United States. wildlife acres are
becoming more and more difficult to obtain as the population of the
county increases.

Tracking

The Wetland & wildlife Tracking System began recording data in 1991.
During this process, it was discovered that information contained in the
conservation plans and CRSC contracts was not the same. The data from
the conservation plans and CRSC contracts were recorded in three
different methods.

CRSC contracts from 1991 to Present:
Planned upland-Wetland Conservation Practices.
Non-Impacted Wetlands - acre, type and habitat value.
Impacted Wetlands - acre, type and habitat value.
Management Acres.
SRP-3 Permanent Wildlife Habitat (645)
SRP-4 Shallow Water for Wildlife (644)

CRSC Contracts From 1987 to 1990:
Planned Upland-Wetland Conservation Practices.
Impacted Wetlands by acre and type.
(Wetland habitat values are not required.)
Management Acres.
SRP-3 Permanent Wildlife Habitat (645)
SRP-4 Shallow Water for Wildlife (644)

GVSP and GVSP/LTA Conservation Plans from 1977-1990:
Planned Upland-Wetland Conservation Practices.
Wetlands by acre. Wetlands that
will be impacted by planned conservation practices are evaluated using
the "Avian Richness Evaluation Method For Lowland Wetlands of the
Colorado Plateau",criteria to establish existing, planned and applied
wetland habitat values.

The Grand Valley Wetland tracking requirements consist of:

Wetland Inventory for contracted fields by acre and types.
Wetland Impacts (+ and-)
Acres
Type (A=Artifical or N=Natu~al)
Value (Existing & Planned)

25
