Access to many of these reservoirs
is quite difficult over mountain trails that are .passable to 4-wheel
drive vehicles and construction equipment only. Most of the dams
were constructed using horse power early in the 1900s. The control
gates at many of the dams are on the outlet end of the pipe through
the dam.

During the ten-year development period, the Association has
collected about $90,000 for use in improving the reservoirs. Major
rehabilitation of Carl Smith and Bailey Reservoir has been accomplished.
Minor rehabilitation on 10 other reservoirs has been completed. The
Association pl~ns to rehabilitate and enlarge Doughty Reservoir next :
year.! .
,
!
j
