Construction The major construction activities in the Colorado River Storage Project area and the Upper Colorado Region in fiscal year 1 982 are on the Bonneville Unit, Central Utah Project, Dolores Project, Dallas Creek Project, and Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Project. Minor construction or rehabilitation was also in progress on the Jensen Unit and Vernal Unit ot the Central Utah Project; Glen Cenyon Storage Unit, Flaming Gorge Storage Unit, Wayne N. Aspinall Storage Unit of the Colorado River Storage Project; Seedskadee Project. and Lyman Project. Central Utah Project: Bonneville Unit _ Work on the following features was completed in fiscal year 1982: Currant Creek Dam; Jordan Aqueduct Reach 3; Starvation Dam, remedial grouting; Stillwater Tunnel inlet repairs; Upper Stillwater Field Station; explora- tory drilling, Wasatch Aqueduct Tunnel portals; buildings, roads, and utilities, Strawberry Bay Campgrounds; roads, buildings, and utilities, Soldier Creek and Aspen Grove campgrounds, Strawberry Reservoir. Work continued on the following in 1982: Vat Tunnel; Vat DiverSion Dam, and West Fork Pipeline; Jordan Aque- duct flow control structures and Reach 3 completion; Hades and Rhodes Tunnel and appurtenant structures; Pioneer Canal, 4 Inspector Stan Schow during Upper Stillwater work Duchesne River Canal rehabilitation; Rock Creek Road repair and paving; and exploratory drilling, Jordanelle Dam and Reservoir site. A contracl for completion ot Stillwater Tunnel was awarded and is continuing. Contracts were awarded for the following work: Utah Projects Complex; Upper Stillwater Dam foundation excavation; exploratory drilling, Jordanelle Damsite; Strawberry Tunnel inlet rehabilitation; exploratory drilling, Fitth Water Reservoir Area; sand and aggregate production for Upper Stillwater Tunnel and appurtenant structures, Jensen Unit - Work on the Red Fleet Camp. ground was accepted as substantially complete in June 1982. Work continued on the Tyzack Pumping Plant and Aqueduct. Concrete was placed in the pumping plant and the discharge manifolds were installed. Preten. sioned concrete pipe for the aqueduct was installed during the fiscal year. The work is about 65 percent complete. Vernal Unit - A contract for modifications to Vernal Pilot Drain was awarded and about 95 percent complete by the end of the fiscal year. Dolores Project: Work continued on McPhee Dam, the major feature of the Dolores Project. Construction progress is still ahead of schedule. Workmen prepare for pouring concrete at Vat Diversion. The contractor for McPhee Dam and the Great Cut Dike continued work on the cut-oft trench, grouting, excavation, and embankment, selective level outlet works, river outlet works, spillways, and stilling basins. The river was diverted in April 1982. About 73 percent ot the work was complete by the end ot the tiscal year. A contract for upgrading and paving the McPhee Access Road and surfacing the Dolores Field Station was completed on December 7,1981. A contract for $11,686,890 was awarded for Dolores Tunnel and Canal in April 1982. By the end of fiscal year 1 982, about 25 percent of the work was complete. A contract was also awarded in May 1982 for Calt Creek and Plateau Creek bridges. By the end ot tiscal year 1982, about 43 percent of the work was complete. Dallas Creek Project: Work continued on Ridgway Dam of the Dallas Creek Project. During the past year the contractor on Ridgway Dam, Stage 1, continued work on the dam, completing the contract July 27, 1982. A contract for completion of the Ridgway Dam, Stage 2, was awarded in late fiscal year 1982. Colorado River Salinity Control Program: Paradox Valley Unit - A contract for $190,060 was awarded in August 1982 for additional wells and brine pipeline extension.
