<br />l' <br /> <br />r,;, <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />As part of this effort, we will work with the Colorado <br />Division of Wildlife to create new opportunities for thousands <br />of Denver youth to learn to fish this summer. This effort will <br />assure that Denver's young people will have an opportunity <br />to enjoy and experience the River and the great outdoors. <br /> <br />Creating the Platte River Commission <br /> <br />We will sponsor celebrations to bring the River and its <br />great potential to the attention of the our citizens. These <br />events will bring together people from throughout the City <br />and the metropolitan area and encourage them to help <br />improve the River corridor. <br /> <br />A Mayoral Commission on the Platte River will be formed <br />to develop plans for further improvements in the River corri- <br />dor. The commission will also help develop partnerships with <br />other cities and counties along the Platte and oversee imple- <br />mentation of the projects and programs listed in this report. <br />The Commission will include business leaders and representa- <br />tives of environmental groups as well as elected officials and <br />city department heads. <br /> <br />Celebrating the River <br /> <br /> <br />I believe that the citizens of Denver want us to do every- <br />thing we can to assure the Platte River in the next century can <br />be used and cherished by their children and grandchildren. <br />The recommendations set forth in this report are a great <br />beginning to this effort. <br /> <br />}J~ z.w.4f <br /> <br />t l <br /> <br />fm1>lwatwe 2000: A Vi(ivl1 Ii". the Svuth 'P/affe 'Riuef- <br />
