Meeting Water Needs <br /> <br />@ Gool: Water of sufficient quantity and quality is <br />needed at the appropriate times to support practical <br />urban uses of the River and to support the plants, <br />fish, and wildlife appropriate for this particular <br />urban river. <br /> <br />A. 1 Iniliate an interagency effort to examine <br />levels and timing for instream flows <br /> <br />The following are the action items in support of this <br />goal and the vision. <br /> <br />Time frame: Effort was initiated December 1994 <br /> <br />Brief description and background: Initiate an interagency <br />effort to explore how River flow levels might be altered or the <br />timing of flows changed for each segment of the South Platte <br />River through Denver, Leadership for the effort will be pro- <br />vided by the Denver Water Board, with participation from the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board, the Colorado Division of <br />Wildlife, and the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District. <br /> <br />Location: l1uoughout the River corridor. <br /> <br />Benefits: Will provide for the cooperation needed to achieve <br />optimal River flow levels and timing appropriate to practical <br />urban uses of the River. <br /> <br />Resources: City and County of Denver, Denver Water Board, <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board, Colorado Division of <br />Wildlife. and the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District. <br /> <br />Who is responsible: <br />Denver Water Departmelll (Contact: David Little. 628-6533) <br /> <br />Next Steps: Continue interagency effort started in December, <br />\994. <br /> <br />b"flCf-ativc '20rJo: A Vi..i(JIf (vI,the SVUt/f Plat1c Rille" <br />
