WILFRED R. WOODS

We came back from it with some profound impressions.

I
l

For one, the vastness of the territory and of its resources was overpowering,

Our tour was not designed to try to sell anyone on a project..,but to help us get acquainted
with each other better.

We came back from Survey 68 impressed with the need for greater communication between
ourselves and our neighbors to the north.

Organizations in the resource field all too often talk only to each other- - - not across regional
or interest lines.

Sometimes in our enthusiasm for vast projects, we forget who owns the resources we are talk-
ing about.

We were impressed with the firmness with which Canada intends to make her OWN plans for
her water and her oil and her gas.

But above all, I am sure we are going to continue to discuss these major needs...and we hope
that Survey 68 has given an opportunity for the leaders in the field of natural resources to become
better acquainted, not only with each other, but with this great northwestern part of North America.
Perhaps we on Survey 68 understand the significance of the article in the July issue of the National
Geographic on "The Canadian North" which stated "Today's Frontier, Tomorrow's Treasure" and wa-
ter may be their greatest treasure of all.

-19-
