ME!' s <br />sediment routing model predicted that the great majority of stream adjustment will occur <br />within the project's first 3 to 5 years of operations (The analysis was included in the <br />Sponsors' Response to Public Comments, filed with the Corps in December, 1995). <br />After the initial few years, the stream should have largely adjusted to project flows, and <br />project effects should diminish greatly. Sponsors therefore propose that the need for <br />continued channel monitoring be reviewed after the project's fifth year of operation. If <br />little change in channel configuration has occurred in the last few years of monitoring, <br />then monitoring frequency, or the number of sites to observe, may decrease. Morphology <br />impacts will be compared with baseline, pre-project data and predictions. The need for <br />any supplemental mitigation measures will be reviewed.
