I
I
I
I
I
I

and later spread over scarred construction areas to assist in
restoration of such areas. Stripping of the dam site would not be
permitted until stream diversion facilities were completed. Clear-
ing uf- the reservoir area would be deferred until latter stages of
construction to limit erosion of the reservoir area before im-
poundment begins.

Plans F, F-1, and F-2 require relocation of about 2.3 miles of
existing 115 kV line. Plans D and E require the installation of
approximately 3.8 and 0.6 miles of line respectively_

I. PUMPING STATION CONSTRUCTION

Provision of 15,000 to 20,000 acre-feet of storage for a conserva-
tion pool in the reservoir is proposed under Plans E, F, F-1, and
F-2, The reservoir would normally be operated so the conservation
pool level would be reached in the spring just before snow-melt
runoff, The reservoir would be filled by runoff from snow-melt
and would normally be filled by mid-August. The reservoir would
then be steadily depleted to conservation pool level by the follow-
ing spring.

A pumping station would be constructed in Homestake Valley
under Plans D, E, F, F-1, and F-2. Capacities and locations vary
with the plans, Each pumping station would be architecturally de-
signed to blend compatibly with the environment. Each station
would be electric powered with low noise levels during operation.
Under Plan D, the station would be operated only during the
April-August diversion period. The pumping station under Plans E,
F, F-1 and F-2, would operate at fairly uniform rates over the
entire year.

J. CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

G. DIVERSION WORKS CONSTRUCTION ON EAGLE RIVER

Tabulated below for each plan are the estimated minimum con-
struction periods and the estimated maximum number of personnel
who might be associated with construction at one time in the
Project Area.

I

The diversion works to be constructed on the Eagle River under
Plans E, F, F-1. and F-2 would include: (a) a reinforced concrete
diversion dam of the gravity overflow type; (b) a gated outflow
structure to admit flow from the pool formed by the dam; (c) a
flume structure to measure the diverted flow; and (d) a connection
of the flume to the pipeline which conveys the diverted flow to
Homestake Valley.

The diversion works would be located on the site of old Camp
Hale. The diversion works would be constructed in one construc-
tion season during low water flows.

I

I
I

Construction of high voltage power lines in the Homestake Valley
would be required for operation of pumping stations under Plans
D, E, F, F-1, and F-2. The power line for each plan would connect
to the existing power line which roughly parallels U. S. Highway
24 south of Red Cliff, Colorado. New power lines would probably
be supported on braced 2-pole tower assemblies as used on the
existing power line. The new power lines would require right-of-
way clearing through timbered areas.

Estimated Minimum EmlTlltell Maximum
Construction Period Number of Construction
Plan in Years Personnel
A 3 250(1)
B 5 200(1)
C 2 300(11
0 3 300 111
E 3 500
F 3 600
F-1 3 600
F-2 3 500
G 5 (2)

I
I

I H.
