Stone, Director of Colorado Water Conservation Board <br /> <br />SuaiECT.: Gunnison River and Colorado Storage Heports by Bureau of Reclama- <br />tion and Hearings Thereon to be Conducted b:Y the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Information reaching the office of the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board, through letters and otherwise, indicates that it is desirable to 9ut- <br />line the procedure planned by this office for the consideration by the <br />State and affected local interests of a status report on Gunnison River de- <br />velopment and the final report on the Colorado River Storage Project. <br /> <br />To aid in an understanding of procedure in this matter, the follm~ <br />ing is submitted: <br /> <br />1. Arran~ements have been made whereby E. O. Larson, Director of <br />Region 4 of the Bureau of Reclamation, Trill make avai. lable to the Colorado <br />~ater Conservation Board a number of copies of the status report on the po- <br />tential Gunnison River development. These will be preliminary reports for <br />the purpose of study and review. This office vall send copies of these <br />reports to various interested groups and individuals in Colorado. The report <br />will also be studied and reviewed b~ the staff of the Board. It is expected <br />that these reports will be made available shortly after the 15th of February. <br /> <br />Z. According to the best available information, it is expected that <br />the final report on the Colorado River Storage Project \7111 be sent to the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board early in February. A sufficient number of <br />copies of this report will be sent to this office so that they may be distribu- <br />ted to various interested groups and individuals in Colorado. As soon as they <br />are received by this office, such distribution will be made. <br /> <br />3. About thirty days will be allmyed for study and review of the <br />above-mentioned reports (and they should be considered together) before the <br />hearings authorized by the Colorado Water Conservation Board, to be held at <br />Durango, Gunnison, Delta and Meeker. Representatives of Region 4, Bureau cf <br />Reclamation, and some of the members of the Colorado Uater Conservation Board <br />(including the Director and other members of the staff) will participate in <br />these hearings. The above-mentioned project reports will be reviewed from an <br />engineering point of view and othervrise by the staff of the Board so that as <br />much help and assistance as possible may be given at the hearings. Precise <br />dates of the hearings cannot be fixed at this time, but under the above procedure, <br />the hearings nill not be held before the 19th of L;arch, 1951. Notice of these <br />dates will be mailed out from this office and published in the newspapers. <br /> <br />G{;TI <br />
