<br />as a means of sampling,the ground water for quality determinations.

<br />Piezometers will monitor vertical gradicnta of water preosure th"ough

<br />the soil profile, and. gaging stations will measure inflow and outfl~~

<br />from the area. Parohall flumes will be installed on canals and laterals
<br />
<br />.in the area to adequately determine ace page loases. After any irrigation
<br />
<br />scheduling or SYOt~8 improv~ents is initiated, conditions woulc be
<br />
<br />monitored to ascertain the change in salinity levels due to sche~uling
<br />
<br />and/or improvements. The method of determining changes in olllinity levels.

<br />would be a control area in which neitrer achedu1ing nor syst~s improve-

<br />ment would be done. Monitoring of this area would take place concurrently
<br />
<br />with the work in the project &rea, and comparisons made of the data

<br />collected fr~ both areas. These results would be used to deter.nine the

<br />dawnstre~~ effects of irrigation. scheduling and water systems improve.nentG.

<br />This feasibility. study ~nd related cost estimates include delivery of water
<br />
<br />to the individu~l f~r~propcrty lIne. Estimates of on-form improv~~entn,
<br />
<br />ouch as concrete linin3 of farm ditches, installation of.~utomated irri-
<br />
<br />gction systems, land leveling, ditch structures, etc., will be prepared
<br />
<br />by the Soil Conservation Service. The Dureau will work very closely with
<br />,
<br />
<br />the Soil Conservation Service on these estimstes.
