VII. PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT PLAN

This public involvement is aimed specifically to the Elk Wild and Scenic

River Study. Public involvement efforts for the Elk - Yampa Planning.

Unit will be separate but coordinated with this study. 1he State and

Forest will be full partners in the public involvement for the Wild and

Scenic River Study.

A. Objectives

1. To inform interested and affected groups and individuals

of scientific, social, environmental, economic and legal

factors that relate to the issue of the Elk River.

2. To involve interested persons and organizations to provide

information, comments, concerns and points of view that will

aid and strenghten recommendations of the study.

3. To provide opportunities for the public to voice concern

with management of lands adjacent to the river corridor and

within the Elk - Yampa Planning Unit.

B. Situation and Assumptions

1. The Elk River study has significant interest to regional,
State and local publics.
