When GIS data was not available for a certain crop, but it was accounted by the CAS or
COA that value was used in our calculations, If there were both CAS and COA, but not
GIS then an average of the CAS and COA data value was use, Com was a unique
crop since it could either be used as silage or as grain. The CAS generally provided a
total acreage of either silage or grain. In the event that there was no CAS data a SO/50
split of the GIS acreage or total com was given to corn silage and corn grain.

There were some very blatant discrepancy between the GIS acreage and the CAS/COA
acreages for some crops, This was found mostly in the Alfalfa and Grass Pasture
acreage data. Counties that had a large discrepancy in Alfalfa acreage were: Eagle,
Mesa, and Moffat counties and the Grass Pasture acreage discrepancies were in: Delta,
Eagle, Garlield, Grand, Gunnison, La Plata, Moffat, Montezuma, Montrose, Ouray,
Pitkin, and Routt counties. A large difference in CAS/COA acres and GIS acres was
