The CAS generally provided a
total acreage of either silage or grain. In the event that there was no CAS data a SO/50
split of the GIS acreage or total com was given to corn silage and corn grain.

There were some very blatant discrepancy between the GIS acreage and the CAS/COA
acreages for some crops, This was found mostly in the Alfalfa and Grass Pasture
acreage data. Counties that had a large discrepancy in Alfalfa acreage were: Eagle,
Mesa, and Moffat counties and the Grass Pasture acreage discrepancies were in: Delta,
Eagle, Garlield, Grand, Gunnison, La Plata, Moffat, Montezuma, Montrose, Ouray,
Pitkin, and Routt counties. A large difference in CAS/COA acres and GIS acres was

3
