These reports are mandated by
several Federal 1.1""5, including the Colorado River Storage Project Act
(Pi 84-485) and the Color.ldo Riv~r Salinity Control Act (PI. 93-320). Data
used to compute tbe monthly v,llues are obtained from U.S. GeologIcal Survey
streamflo""-gaging and ....aler-quality 5amplinR sLltions located at each of the
20 sites (table 1). The monthly values in the biennial reports are tabulated
beginninR ...ith January 1941. For the 12th biennial rt'port (U.S. Department of
the Interior. 1985). monthly values ....ere recomput('d for the period of record
at each site using d method developed by Liebermann ,HId others (1987). Values
could not be computed for all months for 13 of the sites because data col-
lection began after 1941. :1issing monthly values ....ere replaced by undocu-
mented estimates from previous biennial reports. For the 13th biennial
report, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation desirt'd estimates that ....ere derived
using standard techniques and "'-en' more consistent \"ith v,llues computed for
the historical period of record.
