Beginning about 1915, various individUll.ls and agencies have <br />endeavored to determine the feasibility of noh a drain. All suoh s'budies <br />bll.ve been inconclusive and at wide "Il'Ilrianoe. During Ootober 1945, repre- <br />sentatives of' 1::he Bureau of Reclamation, the o.ologioal Survey" aDd the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board met to evolve II. eooperative program. of <br />lnveS1;iga1::iona to prove or disprove the feasibility of II. drain. The pro- <br />gram. of investigations thus evolved aDd the oOlllllli_nts of the various <br />participating agenoies for.oa.rrytng out'the program. were outlined in a <br />joint melllOrand1lll1 dated October 10, 1945. . <br /> <br />iv. The U. S. ('JfJologioal Survey has taken over the monthly read- <br />ing of' the _tel' elevations at approxmt$ly 175 separate locations in the <br />"S1lll1P" and the area to the west on a retmburlllible basis. <br /> <br />v.
